New Orleans Hotels Overview
Famous for Cajun food, Mardis Gras, Jazz music, trolley cars, crocodiles, the French Bayou and more, New Orleans is a complete
cultural oasis. The Southern portion of Louisiana is a must-see for anyone who thought they knew what America was all about.
And, even if you're not a Cultural enthusiast, the city can be appreciated by anyone who likes a good party, hard lemonade,
live Jazz, and warm weather - and it shows. The city consistently tops the list of favorite convention and tourism cities.
When searching for New Orleans hotels, perhaps the single most important thing to note is that prices rise dramatically around Mardis Gras
time (late April, early May), particularly in the French Quarter. Otherwise, it's worth noting the three main New Orleans hotel locations
- French Quarter, Downtown, and the Garden Districts.
When seeking a hotel in the French Quarter, the
Omni Royal New Orleans,
near party-centrific Bourbon Street can be fun at night, but a little too much first thing in the morning.
Le Richelieu
is a good budget choice that has plenty of original Quarter personality. Downtown, you're most likely going to stay at one
of the major hotel chains such as the major chains here include
Hilton,
Sheraton and
Hyatt.
Finally, if you're considering a hotel in the Garden District, modern hotels like the
Avenue Plaza and the highbrow
Pontchartain
are great choice as they put you right on the streetcar line and close to the Impressive Lee Circle, a short ride to
French Quarter and Downtown.
